Indexes
Indexes, or authority files, are normalised datasets to which fields in the database are linked. In our database, the following categories have an authority file: people, institutions, library sigla, titles and text incipits, subjects (keywords), liturgical feasts, and catalogues. For each category, it is possible to view the complete list of indexed terms, with the number of sources. It is also possible to do a search within the list of terms. Each authority file contains additional information that can be viewed by clicking on an entry. The list of sources linked to the entry is also displayed, and with the links, it is possible to directly open the corresponding sources.
Performing a search within the authority files is particularly indicated when searching for variants, traductions or un-normalised orthographic versions that are only indirectly linked to the sources in the database through the normalised value. For example, a search in the keyword authority file will also search and show results for the variants, and similarly it is possible to search by author specifically in the catalogue authority file.
